Mar 05, 2018 Policenauts for Sega Saturn with English Patch Here’s a complete and patched English translation for the Sega Saturn version of Hideo Kojima’s last text adventure masterpiece, Policenauts. This comes with the proper.cue files as well as a.m3u playlist for multi-disc functionality in OpenEmu and any other emulators that support multi-disc. According to Hardcore Gaming 101, Policenautswas announced for an English release on the Sega Saturn, but for unclear reasons was cancelled. Thankfully, due to the efforts of the team at Policenauts.net, a fully-translated English version of the Saturn release was finally completed in 2016.

On the side, it also contains a Metal Gear Solid 2 Ending Analysis, that tries to clarify the matters the game touches near its conclusion.

The main target of this project is to make Snatcher and Policenauts available to a wider public (me included). That means creating a patch or a suitable distributable method for anyone having a Snatcher CD-ROM to create an English translation (Spanish maybe) version. The actual platforms are Playstation, Saturn, MSX2 and PC-Engine (TG-16).

Regarding Policenauts, we have released a patch to play the Playstation version. You can read all about it at Policenauts.net and the forums.

Before Metal Gear Solid, there was Policenauts. A buddy-cop meets science-fiction adventure about drugs, women and the vastness of space. While it was released to critical acclaim, it only truly came to the west in 2009 when a fan translation patch was released for english speaking audiences. Even since then however, Policenauts has floundered in Metal Gear’s shadow; never truly breaking into mainstream appeal. But is Kojima’s point-and-click underrated even today?

Getting the game running:

1. Obtain a legal copy of an english-patched, Sega Saturn Policenauts ROM

2. Download a recent copy of the SSF Sega Saturn Emulator

3. Obtain a copy of a Japanese Sega Saturn Bios

4. Use the guide below to get it running with a couple of caveats

   1. You must use the Japanese Bios from Step 3 instead of the ones in the article

   2. Even if you have Windows 10, you must install a 3rd party Virtual
      CD-Drive in order to mount the ISO files.
      Do not waste 90minutes like I did before I realised the Windows mounting tool does not work.

   3. Make sure your emulator’s Area Code is set to Japan
